24/7 emergency plumbing

Pipes don't burst at convenient times. The toilet doesn't overflow during business hours. When something goes wrong with your plumbing, you need someone on the line — not a call centre that takes a message.

BMP is owner-operated and always available. Day or night, weekend or weekday, we answer the phone. For genuine emergencies in Auckland, we aim to be at the door within the hour.

Blocked drains

A blocked drain is rarely just a blocked drain — it's a symptom. Tree roots, a collapsed gully trap, the wrong thing flushed down a toilet, decades-old build-up. The fix matters less than the diagnosis.

We clear it, then we tell you why it happened. If it's a one-off, that's the end of it. If it's going to come back, you know now — not the next time water won't drain at 9pm.

Hot water cylinders

Hot water failures fall into two camps — the kind worth repairing, and the kind where it's cheaper to replace. We tell you honestly which one yours is.

A 25-year-old low-pressure cylinder with a leaking element isn't a repair job. A 4-year-old mains-pressure cylinder with a faulty thermostat is. The difference matters — to your wallet and to whether your hot water lasts the next decade.

Leak detection & repair

Hidden leaks are the worst kind — they show up on your water bill or as a damp patch in a wall, weeks after the leak started. By the time you notice, the damage is done.

We pinpoint hidden leaks before opening up walls or floors unnecessarily. The goal is to find the source first, then make the smallest possible repair to fix it. No demolish-first-ask-questions-later.

How we diagnose

  • Pressure testing the system to confirm there's a leak and how big
  • Acoustic detection — listening for water under floors and behind walls
  • Moisture mapping — finding the wet zone before opening anything
  • Thermal imaging where useful (hot water leaks particularly)
  • Targeted access — open the smallest hole that gets the job done
Suspect a leak but can't find it?

Watch your water meter with everything turned off in the house. If the dial's still moving, you have a leak somewhere. Call us — finding it is what we do.

Tap, toilet & mixer repairs

The dripping tap that's driving you mad. The running toilet you can hear refilling at 2am. The mixer that mysteriously won't mix anymore. Small jobs we get to faster than the bigger guys, because we're not routing through dispatch.

We come with the common parts. Most of these jobs are done in one visit, often under an hour.

Bathroom & kitchen plumbing

Whether you're swapping a single fixture or pulling the bathroom apart for a refit, the plumbing has to be right or nothing else lines up. Fixtures that don't sit flush, drains that don't fall correctly, hot and cold reversed at the mixer — these are the small things that make a finished room look unfinished.

We work in straight from the existing pipework or, on full refits, plan the new runs with the builder so everything sits where it needs to. No surprises at fitout.

New builds & renovations

Plumbing on a build is a relay race — slabs, framing, plumbing rough-in, gib, fitout. If we don't show up on time at our stages, the whole project slips. We don't slip.

We work to the architect's plans where they exist, and to common sense where they don't. We coordinate directly with your builder, and we flag things early when something on the plan won't work in the wall.

Gas fitting

BMP is Benchmarc Plumbing & Gas Ltd — gas-certified as well as registered plumbers. You don't need a separate trade for gas work; the same person who does your plumbing also handles your gas, which means fewer scheduling games and one accountable point of contact.

We're deliberately conservative with gas work. If something doesn't smell right — literally — we err on the side of more checks, not fewer. Gas is the one part of the trade where "it should be fine" is never good enough.

Solar hot water & systems

Solar hot water is one of the biggest long-term savings on a power bill, and we install, swap over, and service it across Auckland. Done right, with the correct backup, you get free hot water for most of the year and never run cold.

We size the system to the household, set up gas or electric backup so winter and cloudy stretches are covered, and make sure the install is compliant and tidy. If you've got an old solar setup that's stopped performing, we'll diagnose it before you replace it.

General maintenance

If it's plumbing or gas, we probably do it. The list above covers most of what comes through, but the trade has a long tail — the obscure connection on an obscure fixture in a 1920s villa, the body-corp shared system in a CBD apartment, the irrigation tap that froze last winter. We handle it.
